Exploring the Soul of the Mediterranean Kep Merli

Marsel Kalemi • December 29, 2023

Located in southern Albania, between Ksamil and Saranda, Kep Merli is one of the most prominent tourist destinations during the summer. It’s an absolute paradise, filled with sunshine, crystal water, ancient history, and cultural heritage.

The village of Kep Merli is the perfect getaway, providing a very
inviting atmosphere with its small and friendly artisanal shops, florists, and unique restaurants.

It’s been discovered that a rare species of bird, the
Blackbird Cape, inhabited the shrubs of the area centuries ago. These shrubs are said to be the mythical plants of Aphrodite and are seen as a symbol of well-being and beauty. Because of this, the locals named the area “Blackbird Forest”.

How To Get to Kep Merli

  • #4. By Bus

If you don’t have your own car and don’t want to catch a plane, you can also get to Kep Merli by bus. There are many lines available from countries like Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, and Germany.
