As we mentioned before, the three borders of the Peaks of the Balkans are Montenegro, Albania, and Kosovo. To pass these borders, you must first apply for the Peaks of the Balkans Multi-Entry Permit, which you can obtain from:



The application process requires you to provide a valid passport, photographs, and a travel itinerary. Once you submit the application, it takes about 10-15 days for it to be approved. The permit is valid for 90 days and allows you to pass through the borders as many times as you want during that period.

When is the Best Time to Visit the Peaks of the Balkans?

The best time to visit this trail is during the summer, especially in June and July, and until October. During these months, you can expect mild temperatures and a good amount of sunshine.


The overall trail can take from two weeks to a month to complete, depending on your pace and the number of stops you make along the way.
